About the Author
Adam Sawyer has been working in the textile care industry for 35 years, with 30 years of experience specifically in fire retardant spraying and application. Throughout the years, he has honed his skills and techniques to deliver top-quality services for a wide range of materials, including curtains, fabrics, upholstery, and wood.
Starting his career in dry cleaning at the young age of 16, Adam went on to own shops in Romford, Elm Park, and Chelmsford in Essex and London for 15 years from 2000 to 2014. His expertise in textile care continued to grow as he gained valuable hands-on experience in the industry.
In 1990, Adam received training in fire retardant spraying from Essex Flameproofing, a trusted name in the field. He has since worked on-site for various clients, and Essex Flameproofing continues to refer customers to him for his exceptional service.
Adam is also committed to maintaining a high standard of health and safety in all his operations. He has earned a CITB Health and Safety Awareness Certificate and holds an IPAF 3a, 3b qualification, which further underscores his dedication to providing safe and professional services.
About the Business
Established in 2021 under the name Fireproofing, our business has a rich history dating back to 2014 as Flame Retarding and even further back as Fibrecare Services Limited since 2000. With the increased focus on fire safety following the Grenfell disaster, we rebranded and refined our services to meet the growing demand for fire protection solutions.
Over the years, we have worked with an impressive range of clients, including Harry Potter and Warner Bros, The Royal Opera House, Madame Tussauds, BBC, Netflix, West End theatres, schools, care homes, and the general public.

We thoroughly test all products ourselves to ensure their reaction and effectiveness meet our high standards. Moreover, we only use products that have been tested and passed UKAS-accredited testing procedures and their European counterparts.
To stay ahead in the ever-changing landscape of fire retardant standards, we are constantly updating our knowledge and ensuring that we use the best products on the market. As part of our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, we also offer clients the option to send us samples for treatment and testing. These samples can then be tested by UKAS labs, if required by building control, before the work is approved.
