Honest suitability advice
We consider the material, finish, condition and end use before recommending treatment.
About Fire Proofing Ltd
Led by Adam Sawyer, Fire Proofing Ltd provides professional treatment and clear certification for suitable commercial materials across the UK, backed by more than 35 years’ specialist experience.
Experience that informs every treatment
Adam began working in textile care at 16, learning how different fibres, constructions and finishes respond to moisture, cleaning and drying. Specialist fire retardant application training followed in 1990, creating a foundation that now supports work across curtains, fabrics, furnishings, props, decorative foliage and untreated timber.
That background matters because fire retardant treatment is not a one-product-fits-all process. Absorbency, existing finishes, colour, construction, location and the required standard all influence whether treatment is appropriate and how it should be applied.
“The useful answer is not always yes. We assess the material first, explain what the treatment can achieve and identify when sample testing or laboratory testing is the better route.”
What experience means in practice
Customers receive a straightforward assessment, an agreed treatment scope and documentation that clearly records the work completed.
We consider the material, finish, condition and end use before recommending treatment.
The product and application method are selected for the material and applicable fire-performance requirement.
Quantities, areas, site details and treatment dates are recorded as part of the completed work.
A competent person issues the Certificate of Fire Retardant Treatment to the agreed applicable standard, identifying the treated items and work completed.

Fire-safety experience within the team
Wayne brings 30 years of firefighting experience and a practical understanding of fire behaviour, prevention and the realities of managing risk within occupied buildings and public venues.
Working alongside Adam, Wayne has developed specialist fire retardant application experience while contributing the perspective of someone who has spent decades dealing directly with fire safety.
Our story
The company is relatively new; the knowledge behind it is not.
Adam’s career begins in professional dry cleaning and textile care, building practical knowledge of fibres, finishes and safe drying.
Specialist training adds fire retardant treatment to that textile-care experience.
The work is refocused under the Fireproofing name to serve growing commercial demand for specialist treatment and documentation.
The limited company is established in Colchester, supporting projects throughout the United Kingdom.
The team supports theatres, schools, hospitality venues, retailers, productions, events and specialist commercial installations.
Independent product selection
Fire Proofing Ltd is not tied to a single fire retardant manufacturer. We select an appropriate treatment system according to the material, site conditions, intended use and required standard.
Where appearance or compatibility is uncertain, sample testing can be used before the main application. Where a building product or complete construction requires classification, we explain when appropriate laboratory testing is still needed.
Experience across real projects
Our work is carried out in working venues, production spaces, schools, retail environments and hospitality settings across the UK.

What clients can expect
We explain what is suitable, what may change in appearance and when treatment should not be presented as a complete classification.
Work is planned around access, protection, drying, venue schedules and the needs of the material.
The treatment certificate identifies the site, materials, product, applicable standard and completed work.
